The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) announced today that NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali had met with Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, in Washington. Li assessed that “the monetary policy is appropriate and that the fiscal parameters are on target.”

The NBS says in the press release that Li “congratulated Serbia on the continued prudent conduct of its monetary and fiscal policies.”

– We believe you will turn challenges into opportunities – Li stated, said the NBS.

Tabakovic and Mali also met with Alfred Kammer, Director of the IMF’s European Department.

– During the meeting with Kammer, it was emphasized that Serbia is expected, at the state level and under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Serbia, to analyze various scenarios for resolving the crisis related to the sanctions against NIS, taking into account the fact that these sanctions are not only an economic but also a political issue – the NBS said.

Tabakovic and Mali met with senior representatives of the IMF and WBG during the Annual Meetings of these institutions.

Separate meetings were held with Li and Kammer to discuss the policies implemented in Serbia amid pronounced global challenges, the press release says.
