Vucic announces talks with pharmaceutical industry on lower drug prices

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced talks with pharmacists on lowering drug prices and hinted at the possibility of increasing imports of generic drugs that contain the same substances.

He told TV Pink that government representatives would try to achieve this “not through repressive and restrictive measures” but through talks.

Vucic also said that, if this does not lead to results, the state will import more generic drugs, that is, medications with the same ingredients and specifications from other manufacturers.

According to him, talks between government representatives and the pharmaceutical industry should be completed by the New Year.

– So let’s see if they will then want to hear from those who are sick and want to have drugs at lower prices – he said.
