Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) has sent a new request to the United States Department of the Treasury for a postponement of sanctions, as the most recent one-month extension expires on September 26.

So far, the US administration has extended NIS’s operating license six times.

NIS is on the sanctions list due to its majority Russian shareholding, so back in March, the company made a special request to Washington to remove NIS from that list.

In an interview on TV Blic, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he feared that there would be no more sanction postponements for NIS.

– I fear that there will be no more of that and I fear that we will be in an extremely difficult situation. I will do my best during the talks with Marco Rubio – said Vucic.
