CCIS announcing Japanese investment in Prahovo in field of chemistry – JETRO to open office in Belgrade in coming months

The interest of Japanese companies in investing in Serbia and the growing opportunities of our innovative companies on the Japanese market open new opportunities for the Serbian economy and announce the accelerated arrival of investments, primarily in the fields of e-mobility, microelectronics, information technologies and the food industry, said Marko Cadez, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS). Joint investment projects of Serbian and Japanese companies, where technologies, knowledge and experience are combined, are of particular importance, and as an example, Cadez cited a possible investment in Prahovo in the field of chemistry, as well as the cooperation of our innovative company Mikroelektronika with Japanese partners such as Renaissance Electronics and Mitsubishi Electronics.

– Serbia is currently one of the most interesting destinations for Japanese companies, especially from the manufacturing sector. We are not just talking about the arrival of companies and greenfield investments, but also about connecting our companies with Japanese ones and activating domestic capacities in value chains – Cadez told RTS, as announced by the CCIS.

There were also talks with representatives of companies such as Panasonic Energy and others, and the focus was on the conditions and models under which new investments can be implemented as quickly as possible. Some of the companies are already planning to expand their operations, while others are entering our market for the first time, he said.

ICT companies from Serbia have more and more opportunities to position themselves on the Japanese market, and growing interest is also being recorded in the food sector, he added. Serbia already exports food products to Japan - including fruit products, organic food and other products, and exports increased by 14% in the past year. The demand for high-quality food from this region is growing, and Serbian companies have something to offer.

Cadez also pointed out the importance of the opening of the JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) office in Belgrade, which is expected in the coming months. According to him, this will be an additional incentive for more intensive cooperation, faster exchange of information and implementation of projects.

– This is a historic chance for Serbia to become a central point in the new economic map that Japan is building in Europe. We have something to offer - knowledge, technology, market access, stability. And that is why I expect that we will see the first results in the coming months – concluded Cadez.
