Organized by the Sustainable Development Forum and supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) and Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, Belgrade will host the international conference Sustainable Development Forum 2025: “Competitiveness in Turbulent Times” on October 30-31, 2025, which will bring together top experts, eminent professors, diplomats, as well as representatives of international institutions, banks and companies investing in sustainability.

The Forum will discuss very current and important topics, such as trade in times of global uncertainty and how countries can preserve their economic stability. The energy paradox - the balance between decarbonization, energy security and competitiveness - will also be discussed. One of the key topics will be the role of artificial intelligence in fostering sustainable innovation, as well as the risks it entails. Special attention will be paid to food systems, food security, equity and sustainability. A particularly important panel discussion will be held by the three lead negotiators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — David Donoghue, Csaba Korosi and Macharia Kamau — diplomats who played a key role in shaping the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Professor Jeffrey Sachs, one of the world’s leading experts on sustainable development, will also speak at the conference. In addition to him, Matilde Mordt, UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, Jorge Laguna-Celis, Director of the One Planet Network at UNEP, Lord Martin Rees, Astronomer Royal and former President of the Royal Society, Michael Pollitt, Professor of Business Economics at the University of Cambridge, Lucia Reich, Director of the El-Erian Institute for Behavioral Economics and Policy, Khaled Soufani, Director of the Center for Circular Economy at Judge Business School, and Tracey Horn, Director of Communications and Marketing at Judge Business School, will also participate.

The conference will include bilateral discussions, presentations of initiatives and networking sessions, providing a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas between the public, private and academic sectors.

The Sustainable Development Forum 2025 places Belgrade at the epicenter of the global debate on green transition and sustainability, while offering domestic companies the opportunity to present their solutions to the international community and establish new forms of cooperation.
