Serbia at EuroSkills Herning 2025 – Part of largest European skills competition for first time

For the first time in history, our young talents will be presented at the prestigious EuroSkills Herning 2025 competition, which will be held in Denmark from September 9 to 13. It is the largest European event dedicated to vocational education and skills, which has been held in Europe since 2006. Every two years, hundreds of young people under the age of 25 compete side by side for the title of the best in one of 45 skills, divided into six sectors: construction and construction technology, creative arts and fashion, information and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering technology, service industry and transport and logistics.

The entire event is part of the global WorldSkills family, which has been promoting vocational education around the world for 75 years through competitions, research, projects, training and career counseling. Their mission is to unite the economy, educational institutions and governments over a shared goal - to provide young people with high-quality, attractive and globally relevant education.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), Marko Cadez, emphasized the importance of this step forward for Serbia on the big European stage.

– For the first time, Serbia is participating in this major competition organized by WorldSkills Europe, which aims to promote vocational education and excellence of young people. The tradition of vocational education in Serbia is more than 180 years old, and therefore the cooperation between the economy and the education sector, and this competition is an opportunity to demonstrate in action that atmosphere of unity and cooperation in which the employer gives support to its young staff eager for knowledge and skills, and young people with full zeal and inspiration represent not only their profession and country, but also their employer at the prestigious competition. The CCIS supports our young people in their intention to show their great knowledge and skills to the whole of Europe. We wish our young professionals a lot of luck and success and we are rooting for them! – said Cadez.

Our team is competing with more than 600 competitors from over 30 European countries. Serbia will have four young talents who will demonstrate their knowledge and talent in the disciplines of hotel reception, mechatronics and internet development.

– For me, this is an opportunity to show my passion and professionalism in working at the reception to a wider audience, gain valuable knowledge, connect with other colleagues from the industry and further strengthen my self-confidence – says the competitor in the skill Hotel Reception, Katarina Djordjevic.

The participation of our competitors and experts at EuroSkills Herning 2025 is supported by the CCIS through the Dual VET project Serbia, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
