Serbian Railways Infrastructure: Additional measuring equipment installed in Prokop for continuous monitoring and checking of the “movement” of the slab

The Serbian Railways Infrastructure company has provided and installed additional measuring equipment at the Belgrade Center railway station (Prokop), with the aim of continuously monitoring and checking the “movement” of the slab over the platform section and its stability, the railway company announced.

– During the geodetic survey at the Belgrade Center station, a survey was conducted on 44 markers and a total of 14 markers were placed, i.e. two markers on seven platform pillars, which were used for transfer between markers. The measurements are made with instruments that perform geodetic surveys in Prokop with high precision, with automatic data registration and registered readings to the tenth of a millimeter. The so-called zero survey was carried out between the fifth and sixth tracks on August 13, and between the third and fourth tracks on August 14 of this year. Further measurements are planned between the seventh and eighth, or ninth and tenth tracks – the Serbian Railways Infrastructure company specifies.

In the coming period, it is planned to install a total of 20 markers, or two markers on ten pillars. So far, in Prokop, reference points have been stabilized on the supporting pillars between the tracks, which were installed in Prokop by the Institute of Transportation CIP back in 1997.

– All previous measurements and research show that the Belgrade Center railway station is safe for the use and functioning of rail traffic. By installing additional equipment for measuring the movement of the slab above the platform and its stability, the Serbian Railways Infrastructure proves its professional and responsible attitude towards passengers and service users – the company states.
