The Government of Serbia has adopted a decision establishing the public interest in the expropriation and administrative transfer of land and facilities necessary for the construction of the New Belgrade rail station complex.

As stated in the document, the expropriation includes land and facilities on the territory of the cadastral municipality of New Belgrade, for the purpose of building a rail, station and other facilities, engineering structures (bridges, underpasses, overpasses, culverts), as well as installations - gas, electricity, heating, water supply, utility, long-distance and telecommunications infrastructure.

The decision is being adopted in accordance with the General Regulation Plan for Rail Systems in Belgrade with elements of the second metro line, as well as the detailed regulation plans for the bus and rail station complex in Block 42 in New Belgrade.

The Republic of Serbia has been designated as the beneficiary of the expropriation.

Let us remind that, at the end of last year, the Serbian Railway Infrastructure company submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection a request for a decision on the need for an environmental impact assessment study for the Project: Phase-based Construction of Phase II of the New Belgrade Rail Station Complex, which includes the construction of a new station building with a lobby and an access plaza to the station.

The total area of Phase II of the New Belgrade Rail Station Complex - new buildings, plazas and lobbies (entrance halls) - covers an approximate area of 17,000 m2.
