The original deadline for the electricity price increase was October this year. In addition to the nominal price increase, lowering the threshold for the most expensive “red zone” from 1,600 to 1,200 kilowatt-hours is also being considered, in order to encourage energy efficiency.
The next electricity price increase is planned for October 1, 2026, at the latest, and it will not be less than the amount of inflation increased by one percentage point.
An increase in the fees that EDS and EMS pay to EPS for losses, from EUR 70 to EUR 80 per MWh, is also planned for October next year.
The next tariff adjustment is planned for January 2027 at the latest, following a review of the financial situation of state-owned energy companies, according to a statement from the Serbian government, which also highlighted that the poorest households would receive support in the form of block tariffs with lower prices for lower levels of electricity consumption, as well as subsidies to help 75,000 of the most vulnerable households.
The state also plans to expand the list of the largest debtors of Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) and Srbijagas, from the current top 20 to the top 50.
