New parking system in Belgrade center – Additional zones introduced, charging also on weekends

The Secretariat for Transport announced that from July 14, 2025, parking zones will be redefined in the Stari Grad municipality.

The area of this municipality will in the future be divided into purple, red and white parking zones, which will be charged every working day and on weekends, on Saturdays from 7 am to 10 pm, and on Sundays from 7 am to 2 pm.

The purple zone has been expanded and includes part of the former red zone in Stari Grad, and the maximum parking time is 30 minutes, with no possibility of extension. Part of the previous yellow zone becomes a red zone, with a parking time limit of 60 minutes, with the possibility of extension for another 30 minutes.

A new - white zone will be formed in lower Dorcol, which includes the area of the former green zone. The time limit for parking in the white zone is 120 minutes, with the possibility of extension for another 60 minutes.

The redefining of parking zones in the Stari Grad municipality was done based on the initiative of residents and the Stari Grad municipality, with the conditions for residents’ parking remaining unchanged.

Cities around the world are adopting the concept of sustainable urban mobility, with the aim of encouraging the use of public transport, cycling and walking, with parking management being implemented in a way that directs users towards sustainable modes of transport.

Visitors to the central zones are advised to use public transport, which has been free of charge in the territory of the city of Belgrade since January 1, 2025, or to use public parking garages and parking lots if they still want to get to the city center by car.

Users who decide to come to the city center by car have at their disposal the parking garages Obilicev venac (805 parking spaces), Pionirski park (459), Zeleni venac (303), Masarikova (457), Rajiceva (450), Botanical Garden (245), Palilula market (87), as well as the Kalemegdan (113), Vidin kapija (71), Donji grad (387) and Milan Gale Muskatirovic (302) parking lots, which is a total of 3,679 parking spaces, the Secretariat for Transport says in its statement.
