The CEO of the Serbian airline company, Jiri Marek, told Bloomberg Adria that they were “currently considering increasing the frequency of the existing lines.”
– There are also two weekly flights to Guangzhou, carried out by a Chinese transporter, and we are discussing potential cooperation with them. The logical next step is to add a third weekly flight. We did recently obtain operating permits for Beijing, and in the near future, we might consider adding that destination, but Hainan Airlines already covers it twice a week, so it’s not something we’re in a rush to do – he said.
Air Serbia previously flew to Tianjin, which is some 135 kilometers southeast from Beijing and connected with the capital city by an express rail service. The flight was launched in 2022, and the route was discontinued in November last year, and the air company cited as the reason the shifting of the demand toward its new services to Guangzhou, introduced in September 2024, and Shanghai, launched in January this year.
