The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has published the tender for expert supervision over the construction of the complex of the New Belgrade Rail Station with a reconstruction of the bridge structure.

The deadline for the provision of expert supervision services is December 31, 2026, and it encompasses the period of the execution of the works, the period for the check, handing over and the preparation of the final calculation of the executed works and the period for the preparation of the final report.

– The bidder will be hired until the obtaining of a positive opinion from the Commission for the Technical Check of the Executed Works and the certificate of the verification of the structural subsystems. The period of the removal of the flaws begins from the moment when the Commission for the Technical Check of the facility issues a positive opinion and lasts for the next 12 months – the documentation says.

Let us remind that the main station building is planned with access from the square, oriented toward Milutina Milankovica Street, with a new GSP terminal nearby. The building consists of several floors, including the ground floor which is connected with the square and provides vertical communications toward rail platforms. The facility is to have a semi-basement and 4 floors (including the ground floor and a retracted floor). The station is designed with functional units, such as ticket sale, toilets, cafes, security and an outpatient clinic. The upper floors will feature administrative spaces, such as expedition, a command center and a computer center, whereas the topmost floor is reserved for public features such as a restaurant with a balcony. The underground levels are planned for parking, with 57 parking spaces for the employees, with a direct connection with the station square through escalators and staircases. The structure of the facility will combine reinforced concrete and steel, with facades which are based on structural facades.

A station vestibule is planned as well, as an indoor heated space beneath the rail bridge. It is designed as an independent steel unit, separate from the bridge. The vestibule will provide a connection with the rail platforms, the parking lot under the bridge and other means of transport. An entrance to the vestibule is also planned from Antifasisticke borbe Street, whereas double escalators, elevators and staircases are planned for primary vertical communication. The vestibule will contain administrative and commercial features, as well as technical rooms for the functioning of the facility. The building is planned as a ground-floor facility.

The total area of the new building, the square and the vestibule (entrance hall) encompasses a total surface of 17,000 m2, and as announced earlier, the works should be completed by the end of next year.

Let us also remind that, some time ago, in the complex of this rail station, near NCR, without an official announcement of their start, construction works began on the parcel where the future station building is planned as well. Certain citizens’ associations pointed out that works concerning precisely the construction of the station building had begun, but that, at that moment (the beginning of March), the building permit had not been issued, but only the location requirements. There was no official information from those in charge regarding the beginning of the construction of the station building of the New Belgrade Rail Station.

Regarding official information about this topic, it should be reminded that, in October last year, the then minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Goran Vesic and the director of the Chinese company Shandong for Europe, Wei Yiming, signed the agreement on the construction of the rail station complex in New Belgrade with the reconstruction of the bridge structure. The value of the agreement, as said at the time, is EUR 138 million, of which 70 million will be set aside for the construction of a new station, and close to 40 million for the reconstruction of the bridge structure. It was not specified what the remaining amount of around EUR 28 million would be spent on.

Some of the features on this station were developed during the construction of the high-speed railroad from Belgrade to Novi Sad, when the tracks and the platforms were reconstructed and the canopies were built, and in the meantime, additional features were built beneath the platform section.

The value of the opened public procurement is around RSD 981 million without the VAT.

Bids may be submitted by May 13.
