“Belgrade Eye” Ferris wheel to be built near Gazela Bridge

During a tour of the construction works on the new Sava Bridge in Belgrade, Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali announced the construction of new facilities on the banks of the Sava and Danube, including a large Ferris wheel in the area between the Old Railway Bridge and Gazela.

On that occasion, the Minister announced that, in addition to the construction of the new bridge, additional landscaping of the Belgrade banks and the construction of new facilities, such as an aquarium and the Natural History Museum in Usce Park, or the reconstruction of the Old Railway Bridge into a pedestrian and bicycle path, would follow.

What is new, however, compared to some previous announcements, is that a large Ferris wheel “Belgrade Eye” will be built on the New Belgrade bank of the Sava, in the area between the Old Railway Bridge and Gazela.

– On the New Belgrade side, just look here, there is this “Belgrade Eye.” So, we will also finish that by Expo – Mali stated, showing a billboard with visualizations of the future appearance of this part of the city.

“Belgrade Eye” will be located right next to the Old Railway Bridge, whose reconstruction into a pedestrian and bicycle bridge, according to Mali, has already begun.

– The value of the works is about EUR 30 million. The length of the bridge is about 350 meters. So, it will be a pedestrian bridge instead of a railway bridge. Even on two levels in the middle, where there will be a nice viewpoint and everything else – the minister stated, specifying that there would be a park on both sides of the bridge.

Mali also announced news on the Danube bank, emphasizing that a contract had already been signed to build an aquarium in the Usce park, near the former “Jugoslavija” hotel.

Near the aquarium, between the Palace of Serbia and the Danube River, a new Natural History Museum will be built, which, as Mali emphasized, will get its own building for the first time in 130 years.
