MOL: Negotiations on acquiring majority stake in NIS continue, license valid until October 30

Forbes Serbia received a response from the MOL Group regarding negotiations to purchase a majority stake in NIS. The response briefly states that, on September 30, 2026, they “received an official license from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to continue negotiations on the acquisition of a majority stake in NIS.” The license is valid until October 30.

They also note that the process is ongoing, adding that “realizing the transaction requires, among other things, approval from OFAC and other competent authorities.”

As a reminder, Forbes Serbia had previously learned from sources close to the Serbian authorities that negotiations between MOL and Gazprom had effectively collapsed. Prior to the article’s publication, the MOL Group had provided neither confirmation nor denial regarding this matter. Their response arrived only after the article had been published.
