The meeting addressed the situation on the ground, the activities required to mobilize the contractor and the ongoing coordination between institutions and project participants.
According to information published on the Bajina Basta Municipality website, following the issuance of the building permit for preparatory works, the contractor has a 42-month deadline to obtain the main building permit, construct the planned infrastructure and facilities and put the project into operation.
The tunnel will be built along the Uzice–Bajina Basta–Loznica–Sabac road route, which connects to Corridor 10. The project entails realigning a section of the Class IB state road No. 28, specifically the Dub–Dubci section, spanning a total length of 6.28 kilometers.
Plans include two three-way intersections, while the tunnel itself will be 1,266 meters long.
Construction of the Kadinjaca tunnel is expected to establish a shorter road link between central and southeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina and Corridors 10 and 11, as well as improve connectivity between western and central Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to local authorities, the new road is expected to shorten travel times and reduce the costs of transporting passengers and goods. At the same time, the project would allow a portion of traffic between these areas to bypass Belgrade.
Improved transport connectivity between the Podrinje region and other parts of Serbia is also anticipated. According to the municipality, this could help attract investment and foster the development of regional tourism. The interconnection of the Zlatibor, Drina, Zlatar, and Tara areas is of particular importance.
The new road will also be significant for local connectivity, as it will link Bajina Basta with Uzice, Mali Zvornik, and Ljubovija, as well as with other industrial and agricultural centers in the Zlatibor District and surrounding areas.
