First phase of nuclear program in Serbia to be completed by middle of next year

The first phase of the nuclear program in Serbia will be completed by the middle of next year, announced the Caretaker Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic at the BELTALKS: Belgrade Economic Talks conference.

She emphasized that Serbia had experienced progress in the field of energy in the last four years and emphasized that one of the most important steps was the start of the implementation of the first phase of the nuclear program.

– We have lifted our decision to ban the construction of nuclear power plants and started the first phase of the nuclear program. This has been prohibited by law since 1989, so we have unlocked an important and powerful potential and started working on it, on the implementation and completion of the first phase, which is underway and should be completed in mid-2027 – she pointed out.
