Two bids in tender for overhaul of 29 Spanish trams

Two bids were received at today’s opening of bids for the overhaul of 29 Spanish CAF trams. One bid was submitted by the company Rail Components Balkan from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the value of EUR 44.6 million, with a deadline for overhaul, modernization, integration and internal testing of the first tram of 540 days. The second bid is joint, and was submitted by the companies W&L Engineering with registered office in Novi Sad and Wyss and Lila AG, which is a branch of the Swiss company. The value of the job offered within it is EUR 53.6 million, with a deadline for execution for the first tram of 415 days, the GSP Center union has learned.

The union has announced that after a long time we have real competition and bidding of several bidders in a city tender, and that the complete repair of the Spanish trams is of exceptional importance for Belgrade and for the stable functioning of the tram subsystem and public transport in Belgrade in general.

The tender for the overhaul of Spanish trams was suspended due to a request for protection of bidders’ rights filed by Rail Components Balkan. It was resumed after the company withdrew its request. Currently, out of a total of 30 Spanish trams, less than a quarter of that number are on the streets on average.
