The City Council has decided to transfer land near Niska Banja to the state for the construction of a data center, by direct agreement and without compensation. The final confirmation should be given by the councilors of the Nis Assembly at the next session.

Although it was previously announced that the data center would be located across from the Science and Technology Park, the location that has now been specified is a plot next to the IMI factory towards Niska Banja.

According to the planning documents, a business-production-trade complex is planned on that plot and there are no buildings on it. The area is 37,400 square meters, and the initiative for the transfer of the land came from the Republic Directorate for Property, which on July 20 addressed the City of Nis with a request to transfer it to it.

The City Council approved the proposal at a session held on August 21 and forwarded it to the President of the Nis Assembly to include it on the agenda of the next session.

By the way, in December last year, it was announced at a session of the Nis Assembly that a new part of the city with the working name Tehnis would be built on a plot of land of about 10 hectares, across from the STP, and that it would house a data center, three faculty buildings, five institutes and a student campus.

Representatives of the authorities announced this year as well that the data center in Nis would be located at the STP and emphasized that it would be a “digital factory” that would produce a large amount of thermal energy, which would provide heating for about 8,000 apartments. They also emphasized that it was an investment worth about 50 million euros.
