Big gold discovery in Ibar Valley – Australians find 37.8 grams per ton at Ravni

The Australian company Bindi Metals has announced that it has completed the first exploration drilling program at the Ravni project in Serbia, and the first results have confirmed high gold and silver grades at several exploration locations.

According to a company statement published on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), the program included 14 diamond drill holes with a total length of 2,159.4 meters in four priority areas of the project.

The most pronounced result in terms of gold was obtained at the Drenjak site. One drill hole showed an interval of two meters with an average content of 21.6 grams of gold per ton, starting from a depth of 47 meters.

Within that interval, one meter was registered with as much as 37.8 grams of gold per ton.

The company says that the mineralized zone remains open at depth, while the results of analyses are still awaited for deeper parts of the drill hole.

A second mineralized zone was also encountered at the same well, at a depth of 110 meters, 4.1 meters long, grading 0.45 grams of gold and 2.6 grams of silver per ton.

High silver content at another location

A significant result was also recorded at the Rudnjak Sever site. The well showed a five-meter interval with 71.1 grams of silver per ton, starting at a depth of 112.8 meters.

Within that interval, one meter was recorded with as much as 341 grams of silver per ton.

Bindi Metals states that drilling at Rudnjak Sever intersected a wide zone of epithermal massive to semi-massive sulfide breccia, approximately 45 meters long, which the company sees as an indication of a potentially large hydrothermal system.

Exploration not yet complete

The company says the first drilling program has improved understanding of the Ravni project’s geology and that it now has a clearer idea of where the next phase of exploration should focus.

– These initial results represent the first phase of understanding the Ravni system – said Bindi Metals CEO Mark Freeman, noting that several objectives remained open and that most of the analysis results had yet to be obtained.

So far, only rapid analysis results for a portion of the samples have been released. The company expects the remaining results to arrive over the next six to eight weeks.

Bindi Metals says that the exploration so far indicates a potential gold-silver epithermal system along a corridor about three kilometers long.

The Ravni project covers about 30 square kilometers in Serbia and is located in the Ibar Valley, near the village of Biljanovac in the municipality of Raska, within the West Tethyan igneous belt, a geological area that includes numerous deposits of gold, copper and other metals.

Bindi Metals began exploration at Ravni after signing an agreement with Belgrade-based Red Creek in 2024 that allows it to acquire up to an 80% stake in the project.

The results so far relate to individual sections from exploration wells and do not yet represent a final estimate of the extent of mineralization at the project. Most of the laboratory analyses have yet to be published.

Ravni has previously been explored by various companies including First Quantum Minerals, Tethyan Resources, Euromax and most recently Terra Balcanica, and the exploration has yielded incredible results: at the Ceoviste site alone, surface rock samples showed up to 64 grams per ton of gold.

Prior to the Ravni gold project, Bindi also acquired antimony projects in Serbia in the area of the former Lisa Mines and in Mutnica near Paracin.
