The value of the investments is around two billion dinars, and the total installed capacity of these plants is five megawatts.
The small power plant Banatsko Milosevo can produce 21 GWh of electricity annually, and Srpska Crnja 19.5 GWh, which is enough to supply nearly 8,000 average households.
Thanks to these investments, as announced, it has been possible to increase the production of electricity from gas that has not been used so far, while reducing emissions of harmful substances into the air and improving energy efficiency.
Electricity obtained from gas is delivered to external consumers or used for the needs of the company.
– By commissioning new facilities, we further confirm our commitment to the rational use of domestic energy resources, as well as the modernization of energy infrastructure. This investment enables the monetization of previously unused gas reserves, with a high level of energy efficiency, the implementation of modern management and control systems, as well as compliance with the highest environmental protection standards – emphasized Grigorije Tesanovic, Project Governance Manager at NIS.
NIS has been implementing the project to build small power plants on oil and gas fields since 2013 as part of a long-term strategy aimed at the company’s energy transition, increasing business efficiency through rational use of resources and improving environmental protection.
NIS has so far commissioned 22 generation/cogeneration modules on the territory of Serbia, and investments in this part of the business amount to more than 28 million euros.
