Reconstruction and Reactivation of the Petroleum Products Pipeline Between Serbia and Romania Under Consideration

The reconstruction and reactivation of the petroleum products pipeline between Serbia and Romania is under consideration, Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic announced.

As she pointed out, this would ensure safer and more efficient fuel transportation.

- Our two countries have already interconnected their electricity transmission systems. That interconnection has been further strengthened with the completion of the section of the Trans-Balkan Corridor from Pancevo to the Romanian border. In addition, through the Northern Corridor projects, we plan to increase cross-border transmission capacity at the Serbian-Romanian border by around 500 MW. The next goal is to integrate our electricity markets - she said.

Djedovic Handanovic recalled that a Memorandum of Understanding had also been signed for the construction of the Serbia–Romania gas interconnection, with a capacity of at least 1.6 billion cubic meters per year, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between the national gas companies.

- During 2027, we will complete our section of the gas pipeline from Mokrin to the Romanian border, with a length of 13.1 kilometers. This will connect Serbia to the BRUA (Bulgaria-Romania-Hungary-Austria) pipeline, giving our country a new gas supply route and an additional source of natural gas as early as next year - the minister said.
