EXPO Village and pavilions in Surcin to be linked by pedestrian overpass as construction of RSD 438 million bridge approved

As part of preparations for the EXPO 2027 Specialized International Exhibition, a new pedestrian overpass worth nearly RSD 438 million will be built in Surcin, after the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure issued a building permit for the project.

The project involves the construction of a pedestrian bridge measuring 113.56 metres in length and 11.07 metres in height within the EXPO 2027 complex, on cadastral plots 5499 and 5531 in the cadastral municipality of Surcin. It also includes the installation of public lighting and a stormwater drainage system.

According to the building permit, the estimated value of the works amounts to RSD 437,878,743.30, excluding VAT.

The investor is the Republic of Serbia, represented by the Ministry of Finance, which has been designated by the Government to exercise the state's investor rights for projects implemented as part of EXPO Belgrade 2027.

The main design was prepared by Centar za konstrukcije from Subotica, while the technical review of the project documentation was carried out by Project Biro Utiber from Novi Sad.

The project documentation states that, during the design process, the cadastral plots were consolidated through a land reparcelling procedure, although the pedestrian overpass retained the same alignment as envisaged in the previously issued location conditions.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection had previously determined that the project does not require an environmental impact assessment, while the investor has obtained approval for the construction waste management plan.

Upon completion of the works, the investor will be required to submit proof that the pedestrian overpass has been connected to the electricity grid and the stormwater drainage system when applying for the occupancy permit.
