– I am ready to sign an NDA with you on July 2, 2026 and to start drafting a sales contract by August 15 at the latest – Mimovic told Beta.
He stated that he also expected a response from the Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, to the letter in which he had requested a discussion about the purchase of the Russian stake owned by Gazprom and its daughter company Gazpromneft.
– With friendly, honest and transparent intentions, I want to help NIS and the state of Serbia get out of the crisis that has lasted 1.5 years – said Mimovic.
He pointed out that two billion euros had been provided for the purchase of 56.15% of NIS’s capital, which is owned by Gazprom and Gazpromneft in that company.
He reminded that on October 30, 2025, the company KFT Senator Treasury G.T.7 Dva had submitted a request to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury for the issuance of a special license, or approval, for the acquisition of majority ownership in NIS.
He added that the request had been further specified and amended on November 24, 2025 and that during the several-month-long procedure, there had been intensive communication with OFAC representatives to verify documentation on the source of financing, investor structure, status of all participants in the transaction, and corporate and personal data of the investment entities.
As Mimovic pointed out, KFT Senator Treasury G.T.7 Dva, with the support of a specialized advisor, promptly and fully responded to all OFAK requests for additional documentation and “the matter is in the final stage of consideration and decision-making by OFAC’s senior management.”
Mimovic said that he was ready, in accordance with the current Serbian legislation, to meet the “reasonable” requirements and expectations of the competent Serbian authorities regarding the future status and functioning of NIS, not limited only to energy stability, business continuity, investment obligations and job preservation, but also to the long-term development of the company.
He added that he did not plan to shut down the NIS refinery in Pancevo, but to improve and introduce new products.
OFAC’s license for negotiations with the Hungarian company MOL for the purchase of the Russian stake in NIS expires on July 1, 2026, as does the license for the operation of NIS.
