GSP announces tender for CAF tram overhaul – Estimated procurement value EUR 44.5 million

The public utility company GSP Beograd has announced a tender for the overhaul of CAF trams, and the estimated procurement value is 5,274,000,000 dinars or about EUR 44.5 million.

As part of the implementation of the contract for the overhaul and modernization of CAF low-floor trams, a module numbering system is being determined for a total of 29 tram vehicles.

Each tram consists of five modules marked with the symbols C1, S1, M, S2 and C2, and each vehicle that is the subject of overhaul is assigned a unique garage number (from 1501 to 1530).

It is planned that the main electrical equipment will be mounted in boxes on the roof of the vehicle, and it includes: cabin air conditioning, roof electrical box, fuse box, direction change resistor, even an external speaker, traction equipment and brake resistors, cabin air conditioning, auxiliary power unit (APU) and battery charger and other elements.

Modules C1 and C2 are equipped with folding couplers that allow the connection of trams that will have a length of 32.366 m, a width of 2.3 m and a height (pantograph lowered) of 3.6 meters.

The intended door sill height is 300 mm and the floor height is 350 mm.

An empty tram has a weight of 38,500 kg and a capacity of 71 seats (+6 folding seats), two wheelchair spaces and 91 to 151 standing spaces.

The maximum operating speed is 60 km/h.

As for the structure, the body is planned to be a mixed structure made up of different materials: extruded aluminum profiles (roofs, side walls and frame parts) and “Corten” steel in the bogie support areas.

The floors will be made of rubber, which is anti-slip and wear-resistant, and the seats are positioned so that the passengers who sit face the interior of the vehicle, in the direction of travel or against the direction of travel.

The handrails are made of steel and are red, and the interior lining is designed to create a pleasant atmosphere, with mechanical resistance to impacts and damage, scratches and graffiti caused by passengers.

The materials used vary depending on the zone: fiberglass-reinforced polyester panels on the door pillars, turntable boxes, saloon cabinets, cabin lining and dashboard, and the saloon side wall linings and covers made of high-pressure laminate (HPL).
