Serbian Association of Economists to host 21st World Congress of Economists in Belgrade from June 22

The Serbian Association of Economists has announced that Belgrade will host the 21st World Congress of the International Economic Association (IEA), which is, as it is pointed out, the most important international gathering in the field of economics and public policies, from June 22 to 26. At a time when the global economy is undergoing profound structural changes, the World Congress of Economists will give Belgrade the opportunity to be one of the central places for the global exchange of economic knowledge, experiences and ideas on the directions of future development for five days, the Serbian Association of Economists, the organizer of the gathering, said in an announcement.

It is emphasized that the congress will bring together leading world economists, professors from the most prestigious universities, representatives of international institutions, the academic and business community, who will create an important platform for discussion on key economic issues of the modern world.

It is pointed out that such gatherings have an importance that goes beyond the academic framework, because they open up space to view economic issues from the perspective of different markets, institutions and development models.

For Serbia and the region, the presence of leading world economists represents an opportunity to understand contemporary global challenges through concrete recommendations, comparative experiences and knowledge that may be relevant for future decisions in education, economy and public policies, announced the Serbian Association of Economists.

They believe that a special importance of the congress also lies in the fact that domestic universities, companies and public policy makers gain direct access to the analyses and experiences of economists who shape global economic thought. For the business community, as emphasized, this means an opportunity to see first-hand trends that affect investments, markets, technologies, value chains and competitiveness, as well as to consider directions for long-term and sustainable development through dialogue with leading world experts.

The World Congress of Economists is being held for the first time in the region of Southeast Europe, while returning to Europe after two decades. The organization of such an event, the statement says, further confirms the international credibility of the Serbian Association of Economists, as an organization open to international cooperation, knowledge exchange and dialogue between the academic community, public institutions and the economy.

The President of the Serbian Association of Economists, Aleksandar Vlahovic, stated that holding the World Congress of Economists in Belgrade went beyond the significance of a major international event.

– This is an opportunity for Serbia to be part of the most important global discussions on the economy, development and future of societies in a period of great change. The Congress will enable the connection of the domestic academic and business community with leading world experts, but will also further contribute to Serbia’s international reputation – said Vlahovic.

More than 1,000 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the Congress, including Nobel Prize winners in economics, as well as representatives of the world’s most prestigious universities and institutions.

The Congress program will be dedicated to contemporary economic challenges, development perspectives, technological transformation and the future of the global economy.
