Research suspended at Rogozna near Novi Pazar

Zlatna Reka, a subsidiary of Strickland Metals, has today suspended all research into gold reserves at Rogozna near Novi Pazar, Sto Plus Radio has learned from unofficial but reliable sources.

– Our company has not received the necessary permits, so they will not sign work contracts with us until further notice – said one of the residents of Rogozna.

According to other reports, the reason is the decision of the authorities in Belgrade to suspend the issuance of permits for exploration activities “until the end of the elections.”

The struggle of some residents of Rogozna villages to prevent the opening of a gold mine just ten kilometers from Novi Pazar continued throughout the day.

The residents who patrol forest roads day and night during the morning blocked the passage of all “Zlatna Reka” vehicles, which were trying to “break through” from several directions.

Members of the Civic Initiative “Defending Rogozna” have stated that during this day alone, the Novi Pazar police wrote dozens of on-the-spot fines and misdemeanor charges to citizens.
