Another production facility of Vaider Srpska fabrika stakla company opened in Paracin

Another production facility of the company Vaider Srpska fabrika stakla (Vaider Serbian Glass Factory) has been opened in Paracin, employing 250 people.

The opening of the new facility was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who said that the state would provide additional assistance to the Serbian Glass Factory (SFS), which was once the most powerful one in Pomoravlje, in order to employ more people and increase production.

– Slowly but surely, through wrong privatizations, we have managed to destroy something valuable. We are trying to rebuild the factory from the ashes – said Vucic and announced that the factory would be able to have more favorable energy prices and subsidies for equipment.

The international group Vaider, whose parent company is headquartered in Switzerland, took over SFS in Paracin at the end of 2022 and plans to invest more than 100 million euros in modernization and expansion of operations in the coming years.

A new furnace was launched at SFS in 2024, with a capacity of 270 tons of glass packaging per day, in which around 50 million euros were invested.

The CEO of the Vaider Group, Christian Froba, said that the factory in Paracin had a great future.

– What has remained throughout the years are the people, knowledge, passion for glass. We want to take the factory to the next level, to be competitive in Europe. Serbia is a big market, a strong market. We want to be the first choice here – said Froba.

The opening of the new plant was also attended by Swiss Ambassador Anne Lugon-Moulin, Slovenian Ambassador Slobodan Sesum, Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic and Director of Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic.
