Bajatovic: Gas interconnection to Romania to be built by the end of the year

Srbijagas CEO Dusan Bajatovic has said that the construction of the gas interconnection between Serbia and Romania will be completed by the end of the year.

Bajatovic told TV K1 that the gas interconnection from Serbia to North Macedonia would not be built within the deadline requested by the ministry.

He noted that when building such projects, there were often problems on the ground, but that such situations were resolved.

– It doesn’t matter that you are building a gas pipeline, they think it is for lithium. You can’t do anything, they don’t allow it here, they don’t allow it there. What does Srbijagas have to do with lithium? You can’t go anywhere, you can’t do geological and geodetic works. There are people who don’t want it to be done, they lie in front of bulldozers. All sorts of things are happening, but all these problems are being resolved. We will have to be a little more on the ground and help local governments, too – he added.

He stressed that civil servants were there to serve the citizens and that all projects had to be completed without excuses.

Bajatovic also added that the biggest problem was the lack of people and workers.

– The number of projects in Serbia that are currently being implemented and the speed that is required is not normal. It is too high. We completed the TurkStream through Serbia in a year and a half, let me remind you. The implementation time alone is three years. And we did everything in a year and a half – he added.
