The International Transport business association decided at a meeting of its Board of Directors not to hold the protest planned for April 14. The main reason for this decision, they said, is the hope that from Friday, April 10, when the full implementation of the EES was announced, “reason will prevail and professional drivers from the Western Balkans will be able to continue their work without any problems while passing through the Schengen countries.”

– We believe that the path that has been started to find a solution, in the form of special visas for professional drivers, will continue and that it will bring positive results as soon as possible. Taking into account the great contribution, support and patience of the Serbian industry in solving this pressing problem, we sincerely hope for a quick joint solution without further economic losses – the association states.

However, they add that, if a scenario occurs where drivers are banned from working, vehicles are stopped at borders, or the arrest and deportation of drivers continues, transporters “will, in accordance with legal regulations, defend the right to work of professional drivers and transporters.”
