Progress of construction of new Sava Bridge – River pillars to be installed soon (VIDEO)

A new bridge is under construction on the site of the Old Sava Bridge, and as announced by the City Administration - whose politicians call the facility the “New Serbian Bridge” - the works are proceeding according to plan and the installation of river pillars will soon begin.

The new bridge will be 420 meters long on 6 pillars and will connect the old part of the city and New Belgrade. The main span of the bridge structure is 166 meters with symmetrical side spans of 73 and 54 meters in length. The width of the bridge is 38 meters, and 42 meters at the pedestrian viewing points.

The bridge will have two traffic lanes on both sides, 6.5 meters wide in each direction, and a separate rail section.

The bridge is, as it is added, a key part of the Small Subway project, which, in addition to the construction of the “New Serbian Bridge,” also includes the construction of a tunnel from the Faculty of Economics to Despota Stefana Boulevard.
