Medihub to build pharmaceutical logistics center in Zemun Polje – Up to 27.5 million medical drug packages per year

The company Medihub has submitted a request to the Ministry of Environmental Protection for approval of the Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the project to build a warehouse-production-business complex in the Zemun Polje settlement within the Zemun city municipality.

The study was prepared by the company ECOlogica URBO from Kragujevac.

The planned complex includes three buildings: a warehouse-production-business building, a water tank with a pumping station for the needs of the hydrant network and a retention for the reception of stormwater. The total gross area will be approximately 23,672 m2.

The warehouse-production-business complex includes areas for storage, secondary packaging and logistics of pharmaceutical products, as well as an administrative part.

The project is intended for the storage, secondary packaging and distribution of drugs, pharmaceutical products and medical devices, without, as stated, the application of chemical or thermal technological processes. The secondary packaging process will involve grouping, labeling and preparing products for the market, without changing their physical and chemical properties.

The complex will include rack warehouses with a capacity of approximately 15,500 pallet spaces, including ambient storage areas with a temperature of 15 to 25 °C and cold rooms with a temperature of 2 to 8 °C. Reception and dispatch areas with loading and unloading ramps are also planned, as well as an area for logistics operations and a micro-picking system for managing the flow of goods.

According to the planned capacities, the facility will be able to secondary package up to one million packages of liquid pharmaceutical products, up to 2.5 million boxes of medicines with powders in sachets, up to 16 million boxes of medicines with PVC/PVDC blisters or up to eight million boxes of medicines with aluminum blisters annually.

The administrative part of the building will be organized on several floors with offices, meeting rooms and supporting facilities, while the underground floor will house a garage, technical rooms, a kitchen with a canteen and an archive.

The project will be implemented in phases. The first phase envisages the construction of the warehouse and production part of the building with complete infrastructure and the basic structure of the business part in the “shell and core” standard, while the second phase will see the completion of interior works and furnishing of the administrative space.

The complex also plans to build a 216 m3 water tank with a pumping station for fire protection purposes, as well as an underground retention tank with a volume of 500 m3 for the controlled collection and drainage of stormwater.
