Kragujevac has foreign trade surplus of half a billion euros – Export growth, more favorable economic environment, fewer unemployed

In 2025, Kragujevac achieved exports of more than EUR 1.81 billion, which is 126% more than in 2024, are data from the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Sumadija and Pomoravlje Administrative District announced to journalists in that city yesterday. A foreign trade surplus of EUR 517 million was also achieved, the data showed.

More than 80 percent of exports are finished products, while 90 percent of total exports are placed on the European Union market.

The backbone of exports is made up of cars, car parts, trams and rail vehicle parts, which together make up almost 70 percent of total exports.

As Mayor Nikola Dasic said in an address to journalists today, Kragujevac doubled its foreign trade compared to 2024.

Two years ago, it was EUR 1.6 billion, while in 2025 it will be EUR 3.1 billion.

– A special contribution to these results was made by Stellantis, which last year started selling a new car model, which has been extremely well received on the European market, as well as numerous other companies, as well as a large number of small businesses and entrepreneurs – said Dasic, as reported by the official website of the city of Kragujevac.

As an important indicator of the economic environment, Dasic also mentioned the growth in the number of entrepreneurs, which has increased by almost 80 percent in the last decade.

According to him, at the same time, the number of unemployed people has decreased by 13,000 to 14,000 people.

– When you have over 13,000 more employees in a city of 172,000 inhabitants than ten years ago, that is more than ten percent and this is significantly felt in both the local economy and household budgets – said the mayor.

In the past two years, the city has supported entrepreneurs with around 30 million dinars through various programs, with an emphasis on female entrepreneurship.

– The entire economic environment has been improved, from more efficient issuance of building permits to various incentives, and Kragujevac is in the process of being certified by NALED as a city with a favorable business environment in Southeast Europe – it was said at a press conference dedicated to economic results, the city’s support for entrepreneurship and investments, and directions for further economic development of the city and the region.
