The first request referred to the abolition of the levy on the import of piglets for further fattening from the European Union.
This decision enables the continuation of more favorable imports of quality genetic material, which will contribute to the improvement of the breed composition, better feed conversion and greater productivity in pork production.
The goal is to strengthen domestic production and increase the competitiveness of Serbian producers.
The second request referred to the protection of the domestic dairy sector, whereby a decision was made to introduce a levy on powdered milk used in the confectionery industry and ice cream production, in order to prevent unfair competition and ensure equal conditions for domestic milk producers.
This measure protects market stability and the value of domestic raw materials.
The ministry has thus shown that dialogue with farmers has concrete results.
The agreements reached at the meeting have been translated into decisions that directly affect livestock and dairy farming and contribute to the stability of the agricultural sector, the statement says.
