Hungarian MOL and Russian Gazpromneft have agreed on the basic terms of a future agreement on the sale of a majority stake in Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS), said Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic.

She said in a video statement that the proposal for the agreement would be sent to the US administration to decide on.

- Serbia has managed to increase its ownership in NIS by 5% in negotiations - said the minister.

The sale of the majority Russian stake in NIS is a condition for the lifting of US sanctions on the company, which were imposed on October 9 last year.
