Demolition of “Karadjordje” increasingly likely – Location requirements issued for construction of new Novi Sad stadium according to highest UEFA standards

Plans for a new 14,000-capacity stadium in the Serbian city of Novi Sad have moved forward after the project was awarded a location permit, writes The Stadium Business portal.

As said, the approval paves the way for the construction of the stadium, which will meet UEFA Category 4 standards. The venue is set to be used during the UEFA European U21 Championship, which Serbia will co-host with Albania in 2027.

The stadium will also become the permanent home for FK Vojvodina, which currently plays at Karadjordje Stadium. The venue will be built on the site of the current stadium.

According to the announcements, the new stadium will offer an “extensive” matchday hospitality segment, which will introduce a premium spectator experience that aims to set new standards for the region.

The project will seek to honor the history of the current stadium, which opened over 100 years ago. It will also integrate cutting-edge technology and modern regulations, while prioritizing economic and energy sustainability.

The stadium has been designed by Djordje Bajilo and his firm DBA Architecture.

By the way, for more than four years, the media has been talking about the reconstruction of the largest stadium in Novi Sad. At the end of 2023, eKapija presented what this stadium would look like after the reconstruction, and a tender for the reconstruction was announced in March 2023.
