Djedovic Handanovic: Petrohemija also part of the deal on the sale of Naftna industrija Srbije to MOL

Everything that is majority-owned by Gazpromneft, including Petrohemija, will be agreed upon in the terms of the future purchase agreement for NIS, said Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic.

In an interview for Politika, she pointed out that only after OFAC and other regulators approved the agreement, which had been agreed upon by the Hungarian MOL and the Russian Gazpromneft, would Serbia be able to buy an additional 5% of shares from MOL and thus increase its ownership stake. She also pointed out that this would allow it to block decisions that were not in its interest.

– So, we will earn more, strengthen our position in that way. All of this, finally, for the first time since 2008, when we voluntarily gave up a greater influence, which turned out to be a bad move – said Djedovic Handanovic.

She stated that the United Arab Emirates-based company ADNOC also intended to buy a percentage from MOL and added that it would be an agreement between two private companies. She added that Serbia supported this, because of the excellent relations with the UAE thanks, above all, to President Aleksandar Vucic.

– Let’s not forget that ADNOC is a member of OPEC and the world’s leading oil production company with enormous experience and global influence in the oil sector – said Djedovic Handanovic.
