Brnabic on US tariffs: I believe that we will manage to calm the situation down a bit through dialogue

Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said last night, regarding the announcement that the US could impose tariffs of at least 500% on all goods to countries that continue to buy Russian energy, that she believes that Serbia will “manage to calm the situation down a bit” through dialogue with the US. Brnabic said on TV Pink that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are “working hard on it.”

– We must preserve our relations with the US and we must nurture them, to see how to overcome the existing problems through strategic dialogue. They are not unique to Serbia. (US President) Donald Trump won on the maxim “America first.” He is pursuing a purely protectionist policy towards the whole world – she stated.

According to her, Serbia must see how it can mitigate the consequences of this as much as possible, because the US is Serbia’s largest bilateral partner in the exchange of services, a sector whose exports from Serbia this year will total close to EUR 4.5 billion.
