Air Serbia breaks JAT’s record: In 2025, largest number of passengers carried in company’s history

On 28 December, Air Serbia achieved a historic success, breaking the record set in 1987 by the former JAT with 4,531,000 passengers carried, once again confirming its position as the fastest-growing airline in the region, the Serbian national airline announced.

This result is particularly significant considering that JAT at the time operated in a much larger market. After nearly four decades, Air Serbia, as the successor of this company, proudly writes a new chapter in the history of Serbian aviation, based on long-term vision and sustainable development, the press release says.

- During this year, Air Serbia recorded the highest traffic volume since its establishment, thanks to the continuous expansion of its destination network, increased flight frequencies, and constant improvement of service quality. The company will continue to optimise its capacity. Breaking the record in passenger numbers represents a strong confirmation of the correctness of Air Serbia’s strategic direction – investment in fleet, technology, and people - said Jiří Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.

The press release reminds that, this year, the destination network was further bolstered with the launch of six new routes, among which Shanghai stands out as a new long-haul destination.

For 2026, the launch of six new routes is planned – Santorini, Baku, Toronto, Seville, Tenerife, and Tromsø – which will offer passengers authentic experiences and the opportunity to explore the world in a unique way.

In the coming year, flight frequencies are also planned to increase on nearly 20 existing routes, including Athens, Bari, Florence, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid, Milan, Nice, Thessaloniki, and Tbilisi.
