The construction of a wastewater treatment plant has begun in Ratari near Obrenovac, city manager Miroslav Cuckovic announced on social media.

- The start of construction of the first in a series of wastewater treatment plants along the Sava and Danube rivers in Ratari puts Belgrade on the map of green capitals of Europe - the city manager stated.

Obrenovac is one of 16 municipalities included in the Clean Serbia project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in cooperation with the Chinese company CRBC.

This project envisages the construction of two wastewater treatment plants, as well as new kilometers of sewage network.

The large plant will be built in the local community of Mislodjjin, covering the territory of Obrenovac and the local communities of Zvecka, Urovci, Krtinska, Belo Polje, Baric and Mislodjin.

A smaller plant for 2,000 people will be built in the local community of Ratari and, as previously announced, it will be a pilot project for all plants to be built in the future.
