Elektromreza Srbije (EMS) has signed a contract with a consortium of contractors for the construction of a new 400/110 kV Beograd 50 substation in Ugrinovci. The works are scheduled to be completed in 2027, and the total value is around EUR 50 million.

The scope of the project includes the raising of 400 kV and 110 kV facilities, the construction of a 400/110 kV transformation (2h300 MVA), the construction of a power plant, relay houses, self-consumption facilities, as well as the development of a complete plateau with an access road and supporting facilities.

As announced by EMS, the equipment of key parts of the substation - including transformers, protection systems, local control, equipment for self-consumption and metering, telecommunications system and high-voltage equipment - is in the procurement or delivery phase.

TS Belgrade 50, together with the planned dual-system 400 kV transmission line to the South Banat region, represents a key part of the BeoGrid 2025 project and one of the fundamental pillars of the future development of the Serbian transmission system.

– We started the construction of two single-system 400 kV transmission lines for the purpose of introducing the line No. 450 into the future TS Belgrade 50 in September this year. The total value of the entire BeoGrid project is 204 million euros (transformer station, transmission lines and power cable) – the press release states.

This investment is part of the broader project “Northern Corridor for Electricity Transmission” and forms a new transmission corridor that will enable efficient and unhindered distribution of energy from the South Banat region - an area that has exceptional potential when it comes to renewable energy sources. Reliable integration of these sources into the system is conditioned by the timely construction of new transmission capacities, for which the BeoGrid 2025 project is of crucial importance.

BeoGrid 2025 is also of exceptional importance for more reliable power supply to users in Srem and Belgrade, which is especially important considering the dynamics of development, as well as numerous projects of national importance being implemented in these areas. The project has also been recognized as an additional backup power supply for EXPO 2027.
