Government adopts Bill on Waste Management

At its session yesterday, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Bill on Waste Management, which will enable improvements in the quality and efficiency of Serbia’s waste management system. The bill’s provisions will facilitate alignment with European and international standards and more clearly define the obligations of all participants in the waste management process, according to the government’s announcement.

The session also saw the adoption of the Bill Amending and Supplementing the Law on Science and Research, aimed at achieving full harmonization of national legislation with European Union acquis in the field of scientific research infrastructure.

– These amendments and supplements are necessary to ensure the legal and institutional prerequisites for Serbia’s participation in European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERIC). This enables the implementation of assumed international obligations, as well as the fulfillment of the state’s strategic goals in the fields of science, technological development and innovation – the announcement points out.

The government members also adopted the Decree on the Establishment of the Program for Supporting the Development of Business Infrastructure in 2025, with the aim of improving the infrastructural capacities of local self-government units.

At yesterday’s session, the Decree on the Establishment of the Program for Stimulating the Development of Entrepreneurship through Financial Support for Start-ups and Young People in 2025 was also passed. A total of RSD 194,567,000 in grants has been allocated for this program.

The Bill Amending and Supplementing the Law on the Serbian Armed Forces was also adopted, creating opportunities to improve the status of professional military personnel, especially professional soldiers serving in the Serbian Armed Forces, and addressing legal gaps in the current legislation, the announcement says.
