First parts for new Sava bridge arrive from China – CSCEC to begin enlarging and assembling main span next week (PHOTO)

These are parts of a 3,500-ton bridge that left the Chinese province of Jiangsu three months ago from the CSCEC factory where the new bridge is being built, writes today’s Politika.

According to this daily, a convoy of seven barges has now delivered more than 50% of the steel structure of the new bridge, a total of 6,500 tons.

– Next week, when the entire shipment is unloaded, the subcontractor for the construction of the steel structure CSCEC will begin enlarging and assembling the 166-meter main span on the construction site plateau – said Lazar Pavic, bridge engineer for the Chinese company PowerChina, which is the main contractor for the construction of the new bridge.
