Contract for construction of first subway line to be signed by December 15 – Serbia also buying supercomputer from France

Many fast and slow trains have passed through Serbia and Belgrade in the past 141 years, since the establishment of rail traffic in our country, but subway trains have not yet had passengers in our capital. When this will happen has been speculated for years, deadlines have been postponed, plans and routes have been changed... If we are to judge by the latest announcement, the one coming from France, the first passengers will board the Belgrade subway in 2028 or 2029 at the earliest.

By December 15, the contract for the construction of the first subway line will be signed with the Alstom company, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic after talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.

– The final commercial contract for the construction of the first subway line will be signed with the French company. So, in the next month, we will complete this work and start finalizing it so that in two and a half years we will have the first subway line, two and a half or three, it doesn’t matter, but Belgrade will finally get a subway – Vucic assures.

As he said, they also talked about military-technical cooperation, about the possibility of assembling Airbus helicopters in Serbia.

– We also talked about Mistral and Rafale missiles, but we also talked about all other key bilateral agreements – Vucic said.

He also mentioned that Serbia was buying a supercomputer from the French that would be very valuable and the only one of its kind in Southeast Europe.
