The expanded terminal area, which will grow by 5,350 square meters, will be equipped with four new moving walkways, two on the departure level and two on the arrival level.
– These latest expansion works are part of Belgrade Airport’s ongoing efforts to modernize and increase the capacity of Nikola Tesla Airport, and also part of preparations for the expected rise in passenger and flight numbers during the upcoming EXPO 2027 event. The planned duration of the works is 13 months, after which the total number of gates at the airport will increase from 33 to 36 – the press release says.
It is added that this latest terminal expansion follows several years of intensive airport development and investments of more than 366 million euros which significantly improved Belgrade Airport infrastructure.
Today, the airport operates a fully reconstructed main runway, the first reconstruction in the past 60 years, as well as a completely new runway strategically placed between the main runway and the taxiway. Additionally, four rapid exit taxiways have been built to enable more efficient runway exit, along with four new taxiways to further enhance operational flexibility.
Also, since the start of the concession, 12 new gates and 11 aircraft parking positions have been built. To improve passenger efficiency and comfort, the number of parking spaces has been doubled, and 29 new check-in counters have been added, bringing the total to 90. Centralized security control has been introduced, along with nine new passport control counters and electronic passport scanning for departing and arriving passengers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior Affairs and the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure.
This new construction is also part of the ongoing ambitious environmental program of Belgrade Airport, with the use of low-carbon concrete, rainwater harvesting, and particular attention paid to the management of construction waste, adds the company which runs the Belgrade Airport.
