The 2026 budget proposal was adopted today at a session of the Government of Serbia, after which it will be forwarded to the Parliament, announced Finance Minister Sinisa Mali. He added that the debate on the budget and a set of accompanying laws was expected to be on the Parliament’s agenda at the end of November.

The total revenues and receipts envisaged in the 2026 budget proposal amount to 2,414.7 billion dinars. This is 2.9%, or 68.5 billion dinars, more than the amount of revenues envisaged in the original budget for this year, the minister stated.

Total expenditures and spending are projected at 2,751.7 billion dinars (an increase of 3.4%, or 91.5 billion dinars, compared to the amount projected in the original budget, which projected expenditures of 2,660.2 billion dinars).

The fiscal deficit of the Republic’s budget is projected at 337 billion dinars, which is three percent of the GDP.

– At the state sector level, the 2026 budget also projects a fiscal deficit of three percent of GDP. This result will not disrupt the established trajectory of reducing the share of public debt in GDP that has been present since 2016, with the exception of 2020, when the pandemic began – the minister stated.
