IMF delegation in Belgrade next week, talks on Serbian budget

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund will come to Belgrade next week to discuss Serbia’s budget for 2026, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said, as announced by his cabinet.

Mali, who is participating in the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank Group in Washington, said that it was a regular visit by the IMF to Serbia.

– We will discuss the budget for 2026. I have made it clear, our deficit is three percent, which allows us to further reduce the share of public debt in the gross domestic product, we will stick to it and that is certain – he pointed out.

Also, as he stated, efforts will be made to increase salaries and pensions through additional investments. On the first day of his working visit to Washington, the minister also spoke with investors from Morgan Stanley Bank, while tomorrow he will meet with the heads of three international rating agencies.

The Serbian delegation to the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group consists of the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Jorgovanka Tabakovic, and the Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali. The Washington gathering brings together central bank governors, finance ministers, members of parliament, private sector leaders, representatives of civil society organizations, and academics to discuss issues of global importance.

The annual meetings began on Monday and will continue until tomorrow.
