After extensive work and reconstruction and expansion of the preserved rail infrastructure, the Lozionica complex was officially opened in the Sava Amphitheater on the site of the former rail complex, which will also be home to the eGovernment House in the future.
As stated by the Office for IT and eGovernment, the place where a rail facility was built 100 years ago in 1925, which was the initiator of the second industrial revolution at the time, has been completely reconstructed and adapted. The works included the reconstruction of Lozionica on all 4,800 square meters, while preserving its recognizable appearance, as well as the water tower and the turn, but also the construction of the eGovernment House, which covers an area of 11,000 square meters. The eGovernment House is designed as a place where employees of the Office for IT and eGovernment, together with the economy and the startup community, and with the support of experts in the field of science and technology, will continue to work on new IT solutions.
As announced, an AI district, a cyber district, an open data hub, and a digital district will be formed in the eGovernment House.
The entire complex covers more than 23,000 square meters. The Lozionica also houses a hall for events and gatherings, as well as numerous spaces for various creative activities. The renovation work on Lozionica began approximately two years ago, and the goal of the reconstruction is to preserve the cultural and historical heritage while adding modern elements.
– Today, after a century, Lozionica has come to life as a symbol of the combination of tradition and innovation, a place where the past and the future are building a modern and digital Serbia. At the eGovernment House, I presented the most important results and projects of the Office, such as the “Baby, Welcome to the World” project, the results of eGovernment in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the “My eDiary” platform, the abolition of health card verification, as well as the “green” savings that have arisen as a result of the digitalization of public administration. I invite all young experts to start a career at the Office for IT and eGovernment. By investing in new generations of experts, we are building the foundations of a modern, safe, innovative and digital Serbia – says the announcements of the Office for IT and eGovernment and Mihailo Jovanovic, the director of this office.
