In the near future, Serbia should count on a safer and more stable Internet and the implementation of IPv6 and other interoperable standards, as a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Office for IT and eGovernment and Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) in this regard. This cooperation, as pointed out by Mihailo Jovanovic, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, enables Serbia to participate equally in international discussions on Internet governance, as well as to raise digital competences and capacities through training and knowledge exchange with experts.

– We are proud that Serbia is the first country in Southeast Europe whose state institution has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre, a key international organization for the management of internet resources. In this way, we are further strengthening Serbia’s position in the European and global internet community and on the information and communication technology market – said Jovanovic, as announced by the office.

He added that it was particularly important that the memorandum would promote the implementation of IPv6 and other interoperable standards, which would contribute to greater security, stability and modernization of networks.

– This memorandum represents an important step towards a safer and more stable internet in Serbia. Cooperation with the Office for IT and eGovernment on the promotion and introduction of IPv6 is a significant contribution to the development of a safer internet and modern digital services – said the Managing Director of Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre, Hans Petter Holen.

Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre is a pillar of the European and global internet infrastructure, one of the world’s five regional internet registries (RIRs), which assigns IP addresses and numbers, without which the internet could not function.
