Chinese SHAC to open factory in Novi Sad by end of year

Mayor of Novi Sad Zarko Micin visited the hall in the Kac Industrial Zone which was built for the needs of the Shanghai factory Shanghai Huizhong Automotive Manufacturing (SHAC) and which, after being equipped, will start operating by the end of this year.

– Just a year ago in Shanghai, the leaders of the automotive industry SHAC presented to the City of Novi Sad plans to open a factory in Novi Sad next year, in 2025. Today we are standing in an almost completely built hall in the Kac Industrial Zone, on the site of that new factory, which will produce chassis for the automotive industry for the European market – said Micin.

He emphasized that this was “a very important investment for our city, but also for the country, which has gained another large working plant, which will contribute to the growth of employment and GDP.”

– We are proud that our city was chosen to be the headquarters of the first factory that SHAC is opening in Europe. In March of this year, I met with the management of the Shanghai company at the City Hall, when we discussed the construction of this factory in which they are investing around EUR 40 million – said Micin, emphasizing that he was pleased that the first employees would be hired not long after, out of around two hundred planned employees.

The production complex covers 19,000 m2, and has the possibility of expanding the capacity by an additional 30,000 m2 in the following phases of development.

– In May, during a visit to the People’s Republic of China, I had the opportunity to see for myself the quality of SHAC’s work when I visited their research and development center in Shanghai. I can proudly say that in the past 13 years, we have opened 14 factories in the city. Today, we visited the final works on the construction of the facility that will be handed over to SHAC by November 1 – said Micin.

As he pointed out, the factory will start trial production next year.

– We will continue to work dedicatedly to attract investors and create a favorable environment for new factories, in order to continue with good practice, related not only to the employment of our fellow citizens, but also to the general prosperity of the city and the country – said Zarko Micin.
