He stated at the Korean-Serbian forum for strategic energy development in Belgrade that EPS was developing strategic projects and recognizing new potential.
– The 10 MW Petka solar power plant has been in trial operation for a month, while the construction of the first EPS wind farm is entering its final stages, as testing of the connecting distribution facility has begun – said Latinovic, as announced by EPS.
He added that EPS would provide a total of 76 MW of green energy from Kostolac alone this year. EPS’s strategic project, as he said, remains the reversible hydroelectric power plant Bistrica, “which will be the main factor of security, as a power plant that will increase the balancing reserve in the system, and in parallel the capacity of this future energy storage is approximately equal to the sum of all battery storages of electricity currently in operation in Europe.”
At the same time, he stated, a large 1 GW solar power plant project is also being developed. He also reminded that EPS was simultaneously working on RES projects on closed ash dumps of existing thermal power plants, tailings of closed open pit mines in Kolubara and Kostolac, and roofs of its own facilities. The field of hydrogen is a new direction, and as Latinovic explained, it is a young technology that can be used in the energy sector.
– We are analyzing the profitability of hydrogen in EPS, not only as a replacement for fuel oil, but also as an energy source that we could produce in our power plants. Energy independence is priceless for us – said Latinovic.
The Korean-Serbian Forum for Strategic Energy Development was organized by the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
